Problem
Find an English verb whose subject is always a person or persons and whose object is ALWAYS that same person or persons. In French, there is a verb "wash" which is used if you wash yourself, but a different verb if you wash someone (something) else. We don't seem to have a verb "to commit suicide" but if we did, say "zuicide", then you could only say "Joe zuicided himself", or "The group at Democratic Election Headquarters zuicided themselves" ... the object always refers to the same person/people as the subject. You can't zuicide someone else. Self-destruct is NOT acceptable because you never say "he self-destroyed himself". -- Pat Hennessy <patnsc@netcom.com>
