Problem

Today is January 1. Laura states that 2 days ago she was 7 years old
and that next year she will be 10. Laura is telling the truth. How can
this be?

To make it easier to explain, say today is Jan 1st 2000.  If Laura's
birthday is Dec 31st, then if she is now 8, then two days ago she would
be 7.  Laura will become 9 this year. Next year would be the year 2001,
and Laura will be 10 on Dec 31st 2001.
