Problem

My pleasant journey commences when I briefly meet a familiar character
marking a pitch in front of a wooden strip.  I then pass several
apartments with many whimsical fancies among a fine array of glossery.
Often feeling a tremble, I find many keen edges between several
siestas.  I visit several places of refreshment before my journey ends.
Where has my journey taken me?

Sounds to me like listening to a piece of music (familiar character =
treble or bass clef; wooden strip = staff on which music is written;
apartments = flats; whimsical fancies I'm not sure about; glossery =
musical directions; tremble = vibrato / mordant / whatever; keen edges =
sharps; siestas = rests; places of refreshment = bars).
