The Egyptian Jukebox is a pretty cool puzzle book by the author of the "Griffin and Sabine" books. I recommend it. The secret is in the colored bars along the top and left side of the drawer. On the clue page is a picture of one of the gods mentioned in the beginning of the book, and a line that looks something like this: "Ln 26 Wd 13/Ln 2 Wd 8". This refers to specific lines and words of the narrative paragraph before the picture of the drawer. For example, my example would refer to the 13th word of the 26th line, and the eighth word of the second line of the story. Those words spell out a song title. The bars on the left side of the drawer spell out the name of the god, one letter per bar. The bars on the top of the drawer spell out the song title, also one letter per bar. These bars are then used like map coordinates in the "directions" on the clue page. (e.g., "the U from the gods") Follow the directions; at the end of the trail you will find a letter of the final answer. Which letter is indicated by the final sentence on the clue page (e.g., "You are now in possession of the fifth," i.e., the fifth letter of the answer.) -- Peter C. Gwinn <pgwinn@nwu.edu>
