because you take the last digit of previous number and times it by ten
then you take the number in the tens place and add 2 to it and then add
that to the number you got after you multiplied it by 10
x1 and y1 represent the single digits when by themselves and the number
they form when in parentheses x2 and y2 are the same but are hte next
number in the sequence
x1 = 6 y1 = 8
x1y1
y1*10 = (x2y2)
(x2y2) + (x2 + 2) = next number
comes out to:
68
8 * 10 = 80
80 + (8 + 2) = 90
90
0 * 10 = 00
0 + (0 + 2) = 2

The solution is easier, I think. This is what I had in mind when I
thought of it:
2
2(the last digit) double 2= 22 + 2 = 24
4 (from 2_4_) double 4= 44 + 2 = 46
6 (from 4_6_) double 6= 66 + 2 = 68
8 etc. double 8= 88 + 2 = 90
0 double 0= 00 + 2 = 2 etcetera.
Thanks for thinking about it!
